BREAST PROSTHESES (post-mastectomy)

Prosthetics at Graphica Medica offers custom and non-custom prosthetic solutions for post-mastectomy patients.

A breast prosthesis (custom or non-custom) is a non-invasive option for individuals who have undergone breast trauma from mastectomy, lumpectomy, injury, failed reconstruction or birth defects, as well as for those who are not candidates for breast reconstruction after mastectomy and lumpectomy.

Prosthetic breast forms are intended to restore symmetry and the appearance of one's breast when worn with a bra and clothing.

Prosthetics at Graphica Medica provides breast forms which offer the following features:

  • Breathable and lightweight

  • 100% FDA-approved medical-grade silicone

  • May be worn within or out of the pocket of a pocketed mastectomy bra, depending on the design of the form.

  • Some prostheses can be worn as early as one week after surgery or as soon as comfortable, depending on the design, size, and weight of the prosthesis.

  • Available in various skin tones

  • Will not bubble, leak, or puncture*

  • Excellent for physical lifestyles, including swimming!*

  • With proper care and maintenance, a prosthesis should last several years

  • Non-custom breast prostheses are covered by most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid (varies by state and region)

*design and material of the breast form will dictate if it is vulnerable when exposed to certain environments.

Because each case is unique, natural appearance and symmetry can be restored using breast form shapes that are symmetrical ("triangle") or asymmetrical, which slightly extend around the side of the chest.

Partial forms are also available to restore symmetry.
